Few types of diseases are the ultimate reaction to consuming gluten-related foods. Worldwide, people are prone to celiac disease, wheat allergy, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, gluten ataxia, etc. These numbers of diseases can be prevented by consuming food that is labelled as ‘gluten-free’.
CDG is a third party organisations that provide gluten-free certification of foods after healthy examination and contamination controls, inspection, testing and auditing measures. We are one of such organisations that help your food brand with ‘gluten-free certificate’ that is compliant to the United States of America FDA’s gluten-free labelling final rule.
HOW IS YOUR FOOD PRODUCT CONSIDERED AS ‘GLUTEN-FREE’?
The gluten-free certificate is not compulsory, but it is a voluntary program for food and beverages companies that gives importance to the gluten-free certificate for ensuring consumer safety. These companies meet strict standards of food processing laid by the FDA.
Once the third party company that is compliant for gluten-free labelling certificate assures that your food (finished product) has 10 ppm or less gluten and a similar amount of proteins from barley, hybrids of these grains and rye under the AACC gluten-free testing measures; it is considered as a gluten-free certified food product.
THE GLUTEN-FREE CERTIFICATION PROCESS
Reviewing the Product
The product review is the initial measure to help the process with documentation and audit, GCP (Gluten-Free compliance Plan) review and IPP labelling review.
Food Manufacturing Unit Inspection
An onsite inspection is must to verify that the production process at your manufacturing unit is compliant with the documentation and audit process.
Testing Measures
The testing measure is conducted during the onsite inspection, where the inspector tests any random sample with the gluten-free integrity, i.e., 15ppm or less. During the same process, the inspector also carries on with the raw ingredient inspection.
Certification Process
When the results of step 1 to 3 as mentioned above are in favour of the inspection process, i.e., gluten usage in the product is 15ppm or less than the certification process is marked as successful. Your food products get a mark of our certified gluten-free program.
Ongoing Compliance
Annual ongoing compliance is must to keep your products labelled as ‘Gluten Free’. We do help with the same.
